Inclusive Education

Introduction

Inclusive education is an important human right that ensures equal access to quality education for all children, regardless of background or ability. Unfortunately, many children around the world face barriers that prevent them from going to school, such as poverty, disability and social discrimination. WARSAN plays an important role in promoting inclusive education in Somaliland and the Horn of Africa.

We uphold education and learning as essential to the development of all people and societies and our activities include:

  1. Special support
  2. Raise awareness in society
  3. Reaching marginalized communities
  4. Capacity building
  5. Fighting depression, and
  6. Advocacy and policy influence.

Poverty and lack of resources can be the biggest barriers to accessing education. WARSAN Solutions solves these problems by providing free education, school supplies and even meals to ensure children’s basic needs are met. By removing these barriers, they create a better education for underprivileged children.

According to the UNHCR Global Education Report 2023 more than half of the world’s 14.8 million school-aged refugee children are out of formal education. Gross enrolment rates remain low.
