Our primary healthcare program

Health is a core factor in global poverty and suffering, affecting communities with insufficient food, unsafe water, and limited health services, leading to widespread hardship. Establishing sustainable solutions for enhanced nutrition, clean water, and healthcare access can mean the difference between life and death for men, women, and children worldwide daily.

In Somaliland a country located in the Horn of Africa, garnering a quality healthcare system for everyone is a major struggle. With a  majority of the population living in rural areas, the people of Somaliland have one of the lowest life expectancies in the world. Grappling through years of civil war and natural disasters, it has been difficult to overcome widespread disease, malnutrition and an overall lack of healthcare resources.

WARSAN’s mission in health is ensuring good health and promoting well-being for people of all ages which is in line with Sustainability Goal 3 activities. We are dedicated to tackling current health issues supporting the rural communities’ attaining universal health coverage and enhancing general well-being by collaborating closely with families, communities, and partners.

WARSAN strives to achieve its mission of health as follows

  1.  Promoting the growth of a Community-Based Approach to Community Development is the most effective and sustainable long-term way to achieve primary healthcare access to the right holders.
  2. Empowering communities to manage their own health and development initiatives through capacity building at all levels.
  3.  Serving as a focal point for nonprofit health centres involved in community development activities and undertaking coordination, training, monitoring and evaluating activities.
  4. Facilitating cooperation, networking, and partnerships and strengthening the existing communication and information sharing among stakeholders such as  Government, Development partner agencies and Donors through the provision of a forum for sharing knowledge, experiences and Best practices.
  5. Undertaking Advocacy at all levels for health policy and Primary Health Care using Community Based Health Care approach as the pre-requisite for sustainable development,
